As the construction continues at the waterfront I continue to hear negative comments about the mess it has left the waterfront in in the mean time. Construction machinery and rubble may not be the first thing you hope to see out of your window when travelling over the River Tay but when you open your mind and isolate these items from the surrounding they are actually very interesting and attractive pieces.
When I look at these cranes that are at work at the waterfront I feel there is something about them that just fit in. For example here, the continuous linear design within the machinery just works with the discovery ship and its many linear ropes. I feel that these machinery pieces have changed my perception of design from preferring a clean modern look to something different, something messier and bold with multiple angles used and I really like the look and the inspiration it gives me as a designer.
